Crazy for Orange!
This is Zoya Annie. I love this color and it's one of my favorite oranges in my collection. I got it recently in the zoya nail polish exchange. It's a red-toned orange with beautiful shimmer. The application was perfect! As you can see, there were absolutely no issues with the brush strokes or the formula... simply flawless! This to-die-for color took only two coats.

Mermaid to Order
Mermaid to Order was released recently in Sephora by OPI's collection called Mermaid in the Shade. Mermaid to Order is a teal blue green sparkly metallic. I think this color is stunning and beautiful but here is one major flaw: the brush strokes!! If you don't already notice them, feel free to enlarge the photo. I found that if you used thinner coats, the brush stokes were not as obvious. Now the formula, well this may be just my opinion. I absolutely hate the shape of the Sephora by OPI brushes. They are long and very skinny, not to mention hard to work with. If the brand is by OPI, I honestly do not get why they did not just stick with the Pro-wide brush! The formula itself was thinner than I had anticipated, a good three (pretty thick) coats to achieve bottle color. I say, good idea Sephora, wrong execution.

Earth Update: Gifts
If you want to get a "green" gift for yourself or a friend, what do you think of? That handmade one-of-a-kind organic body wash that must be shipped across the country? A special sea salt scrub from Europe? Well although these things may be made in an eco-friendly way, shipping (especially by plane) is very polluting. The best way to make environmentally friendly gifts is to get things with little packaging that are made locally. For example, if you love gardening, how about a basket home-grown of fresh and delicious fruits? Or a gift from a new locally run business? The options are endless!!
Anyway, have an "earthy" day! xo

China Glaze Orange Marmalade
All of you orange lovers out there, do you have this polish?! If not, well you are missing a fun summer staple in your stash. Orange Marmalade by China Glaze was released in the Summer Days collection, a collection of fun and fruity concoctions filled with glass fleck shimmer. As for the name of this color, all I have to say is dead on. It looks exactly like marmalade... only nail polish!! Only recently did I start to get some orange nail polishes, ever since I tested out the fabulous Zoya Annie (swatches coming soon.) This picture is three thin coats of polish and topcoat, but you could get away with two regular coats. The polish texture was easy to apply and dried pretty quickly. This is easily my favorite orange of the season!!

Earth Update: Air Conditioning and Heating
Sorry for the lack of posts this week, I have been super swamped with, hmm, everything I guess! Well now I have a green tip for everybody that is pretty easy to incorporate into your regular routine. DON'T automatically turn on your AC or heater, check the temperature outside to see if you really need it! It's easy just to let the outside air into your home. I know for a lot of you it's just an instinct to flick the switch on just because it's summertime, but there are exceptions to warm/cold weather all the time. This can help save a lot of energy.
Thanks and have an "earthy" day!
Oh, this tip was found in a super-cool book called Green Chic!!

Zoya "The Fabulous" Midiori
Zoya Midori can best be described as a stunning, medium-toned green chock full of amazing gold shimmer. This color was released recently in the Zoya Ooh-la-la collection, and I certainly said "Ooh-la-la" when I saw this color! Well, to be more accurate, I gasped and you probably know why. This color is unique and utterly fabulous. It's very similar, if not a dupe to the highly sought after China Glaze Moonpool. This color had Zoya's signature perfect formula and was opaque in two coats. The bottom picture is an accurate depiction of the Midori in the sun. This was one of my favorite Zoyas that I recently recieved from the Zoya nail polish exchange. The exchange is cheap to do and when you send in polishes to Zoya, they dispose of them in an eco-friendly way! A win-win! Anyway, this is the perfect addition to my green family and it will definitely be a favorite of mine for a long time.

Earth Update: Laundry
Laundry is something that you have to do all the time so why not make it green? Normal laundry detergent is made through a very energy-intense process. How intense? Umm let's just say that about one POUND of greenhouse gasses are produced for every little ounce of detergent!! Greenhouse gasses hugely contribute to global warming. Two brands called Method and Mrs. Meyer's make detergent that is much more friendly to the earth. If you can't find those, just look for petroleum and phthalate free detergents.
Until later have an "earthy" day!!
